Rachel Ostrow

Our family has been part of FHYAA for years, with my son Eli playing baseball, soccer, and flag football. My daughter Sydney may not be on the field, but she’s an enthusiastic supporter, always cheering him on and baking treats for his teams. Forest Hills has always been a big part of our lives, from growing up here myself to now living just a few blocks from the fields. I wanted my design to celebrate the sense of community and team spirit that make FHYAA so special to us.

Thuy & Hudsen Petersen

I’m Thuy Petersen, proud FYHAA parent and snack shack regular! My family joined FYHAA in 2021, right after the pandemic, when my oldest son Hudsen (now 11) kicked off U8 soccer. Since then, all three of my kids—Hudsen (soccer, basketball, flag football), Emmrett (8, soccer, basketball, baseball), and Sawyer (5, soccer)—have grown up on these fields. My husband jumped in as a coach that very first year, following in his own dad’s footsteps, and now serves on the FHYAA board. I joined the Spring Fling planning team this year and helped grow sponsorships 4x with an amazing committee—teamwork at its finest!

For our family, FYHAA is more than just sports—it’s weekends filled with friends, community, and (of course) trips to the snack shack and ice cream truck.

This design was a true family project between me and Hudsen. I created the playful, bold lettering and added a ball from each sport, while Hudsen carefully picked the colors and placements to represent each game. It was the perfect mix of creativity, sports, and teamwork—just like FYHAA itself!

Chris Kimball

I am Chris L. Kimball. I am a professional Illustrator and graphic designer. I have been living in Forest Hills for 18 years, having moved in with my girlfriend now wife, and just really falling in love with the neighborhood.  We knew we wanted to raise our family here. My eldest son Luke will be joining his 4th year of basketball this fall, and I am always trying to get my younger children involved.  I was excited to contribute my design because above my personal involvement.  I see how important FHYAA is to the community through my neighbors and their children. For my design I wanted something clean and classic that would celebrate this tremendous anniversary, and tie together all the programs that FYHAA offers this neighborhood.

Graceann Faulkner

My daughter Christina Faulkner has been thriving in the Girls Softball program for FHYAA, which was recommended to me by friends who spoke highly of the organization's sports programs. As a parent of a child with Down Syndrome, I was eager to find a baseball program that would cater to her needs. Jennifer Frankel was instrumental in finding the perfect fit for Christina, and we're grateful for her support. The Girls Softball league has been a resounding success, not just for Christina, but also for my niece Paula Dimitropoulos. FHYAA's inclusive approach has empowered children of all abilities to reach their full potential, and we're thrilled to be a part of it. The design concept aims to showcase the diverse range of sports programs offered by FHYAA, with a vibrant, street-inspired vibe that resonates with kids who are passionate about sports.
